I've been walking in your shoes for a long time. My 12 year old son
is ADHD and ODD and he isn't borderline. Have you done a DDI Hair
Test? If not, I would suggest getting one. I would be willing to bet
your child is mercury toxic. I think chelation would definitely
help. Few things have very noticeably helped. Epsom salt baths help
some. He is getting better with chelation, but there are things
screwed up from mercury that need to be healed. Like adrenal
problems which I think contribute to his ODD behavior. I subscribed
to Feingold too, but if you don't start it when they are very young,
when you can control what goes in their mouth, it just isn't
feasible. He sneaks around about food so I knew it wasn't going to
work for him, although I do think it would work if he would
cooperate. Chelation has helped him scholastically and other ways.
I told him we might be finished chelating in a few months. He said
no mom don't stop, I can do multiplication now and division and I can
remember kids names. He even said that after about every five rounds
I can tell I've gotten better. That's pretty amazing when you
consider what a pain it can be at times. I regret taking so long to
get started after I discovererd chelation and this board. The
younger you start the better the outcome. Good-Luck, Rae
[My thanks to Rae for allowing me to use her son's story on my site.]
